A Barton County motorist was injured Sunday when he swerved to avoid a deer, 0.4 miles north of SE 50 Road on SE 100 Ave. The accident occurred around 4 a.m.

According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob Delgado was driving the 1997 Dodge pickup. It went into a ditch and then came back onto the road but entered into a side skid into the other ditch, rolling three-quarter times. Delgado was wearing a seat belt. He called friends who took him to Great Bend Regional Hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg and broken collar bone.
