Barton Community College will host its sixth annual Sidewalk Art Contest May 8 and 9 on the sidewalk outside the Shafer Art Gallery.
The contest, originally set for this week, is open to all residents of Barton County. Artists wishing to participate can register and pick up their free chalk at the Shafer Gallery between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on either day.  Artists must have their work completed by 4 p.m. Thursday, May 9.
The contest will be judged by Barton art instructors. The pieces can be done by individuals or by several artists on a team. Prizes to be awarded are three $100 gift certificates to the Barton Bookstore. If a team wins, its members will split the award.
