BCC trustees plan trip to Topeka

Three trustees from Barton Community College will travel to Topeka next week with Barton President Dr. Carl Heilman. The trip to meet with legislators is in lieu of the trustees’ monthly study session, which otherwise would have been held on Jan. 5. College officials will travel to Topeka Wednesday morning and return on Thursday.

Trustees Mike Minton, Brett Middleton and Mike Johnson plan to meet with legislators. Their tentative schedule has their first Wednesday meeting at 10 a.m. with Sen. Jay Emler, R-Lindsborg; followed by meetings at 1 p.m. with Sen. Allen Schmidt, D-Hays; 2 p.m. with Sen. Ruth Teichman, R-Stafford; 2:30 p.m. with Rep. Don Hineman, R-Dighton; and 3 p.m. with Rep. Steven Johnson, R-Assaria. On Thursday morning they will meet with Rep. Bob Bethell, R-Alden, at 7:30 a.m.; Rep. Mitch Holmes, R-St. John, at 8 a.m.; Rep. Dan Collins, R-Plainville, at 8:30 a.m.; Rep. Larry Powell, R-Garden City, at 9 a.m.; and Rep. Bill Wolf, R-Great Bend at 9:30 a.m.
