The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting for 4:15 p.m. Thursday in Room F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. Board action is required because Bank of America is scheduled to be acquired by First Kansas Bank on July 1. The college needs to move its Bank of America accounts to the acquisition bank. The administration has recommended that the board approve a resolution recognizing the First Kansas Bank as the depository for college funds, and naming three individuals as “designated agents” who may write checks on the account: Trustee Mike Johnson, Trustee Brett Middleton and Dean of Administration Mark Dean.
The board’s May study session was already scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, but a special meeting was required because no action is taken at study sessions. Before the study session, trustees will meet at 3:30 p.m. in the Planetarium, located in the Science & Math Building, for a presentation in that recently upgraded facility.
The meeting will move back to F-30 at 4 p.m. Discussion topics for the study session include the eduKan audit report by Mark Sarver, monthly financial statement by Mark Dean, a forensics presentation by Bill Sheffield, athletics report by Trevor Rolfs and Booster Club report by Kevin Sundahl.
Barton President Dr. Carl Heilman will report on Senate Bill 155; the Camp Aldrich Conference Center; contract renewal review for management staff, administrators and head coaches; and on agreements he has signed on behalf of the college in the last month.
