WICHITA — May 8 is World Red Cross Day, and the American Red Cross encourages eligible individuals to celebrate by donating lifesaving blood in their communities. The need is constant, and all blood types are needed, especially O negative, B negative and A negative.
The Red Cross will accept donations on Wednesday, May 1, at Central Plains High School, 700 Albro St., in Claflin, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Monday, May 6, at St. Rose Auditorium, 1412 Bake Ave., in Great Bend, from 11:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
To donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
