Businesses warned of counterfeit $100 bills

Detective David Bailey at the Great Bend Police Department confirmed a report that counterfeit $100 bills have been circulated within the business community in recent days. While there is no active police case, one Great Bend bank reported that several of its business customers have accepted fake $100 bills, printed on bleached $5 bills.

The police recommend examining $100 bills closely before accepting them. By using real currency paper, counterfeiters make their fakes harder to detect. Any business that has been a victim in a fraudulent exchange of currency is encouraged to file a police report.
