The artist behind the Jack Kilby tribute will talk about his statutes during two free programs sponsored by the Great Bend Recreation Commission. Chet Cale, creator of "The Gift," will speak at noon Wednesday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St., and again at 1 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. These GBRC Stop ‘N Learn programs last about an hour.

Cale will explain the complex process of creating the three bronze statues that make up "The Gift," a tribute to former Great Bend resident Kilby, who won the Nobel Prize for his invention of the microchip.
