St. John Lutheran to hold Festival of Carols
ELLINWOOD — St. John Lutheran Church will hold a “Festival of Carols,” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the church, located at 5th and Wilhelm in Ellinwood. The public is invited to attend this free community celebration of the beginning of Advent, to kick off the Christmas season. Guest organist David Rankin, Ellsworth, along with St. John’s organists, Jonel Niles, Nancy Heine and Chari Manry, plus the Ellinwood High School Mystic Blues show choir, soloist Shelley Ramsey and the St. John Lutheran Choir will perform favorite Christmas carols.
‘The Ben Carson Story’ showing at Motherhouse
The Dominican Sisters of Peace will show the 2009 movie, “The Ben Carson Story,” at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the auditorium of the Motherhouse, 3600 Broadway Ave., Great Bend. Refreshments and discussion will follow the movie. A freewill donation is requested.
In this biographical drama, the film reveals Carson’s inspiring life story as a poor, inner-city youth who overcame great odds to become one of the world’s best neurosurgeons, thanks to the love of his single mother and an unswerving Christian faith. The move is 90 minutes long.
Men’s breakfast set for this Saturday
River of Life Church, 1219 Main, Great Bend will hold a men’s breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Pastor David LeRoy will speak.
