Claflin man injured

A Claflin man was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington Wednesday evening after the truck he was driving went into a ditch in the 1800 block of Susank Road.
Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports James Burch, 22, was driving a Ford F-350 pulling a trailer loaded with oilfield pipe when he lost control of the vehicle at 7:19 p.m. Burch had to be extracted from the truck because the pipe came off the trailer and crushed the cab, pinning him inside. Investigation revealed the trailer began to swing, causing Burch to lose control, and that speed was a contributing cause of the accident.
The Hoisington Fire Department, Hoisington Emergency Medical Service, Hoisington Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.
