RUSSELL — The Deines Cultural Center is featuring "Young at Art," an exhibit of art in a variety of media by students attending USD 407 schools. The art is from students at Simpson and Bickerdyke Elementary Schools, Ruppenthal Middle School and Russell High School.
The multi-media show, sponsored by The Russell Arts Council, opens Sunday, March 4 with a reception from 2-4 p.m. at the center for the students, their parents, teachers and friends.
District 407 students receive art education from Andrea Moreland (RHS), Cindy Balthazor (RMS), and Tranda Ihrig (SES and BES).
Works on display are two- and three-dimensional and include ceramics, paintings and assemblage. Students have learned about famous artists and then interpreted their work in their own way. The public is invited to view the work of today’s young artists in "Young at Art" which will be up through March 25.
The Deines Cultural Center is located at 820 North Main in Russell, admission is free and the Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 12:30-5:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1-5 p.m.. The Center is accessible to those with disabilities.
