A local registered dietician will share information about nutrition at the next Parkinson’s Support Group meeting at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center, 3515 Broadway. It is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the basement-level St. Dominic Room.
“Deb Tillotson will discuss nutritional guidelines for people with Parkinson’s disease,” said Pam Perry, St. Rose Rehab Services director. “She will talk about possible interactions between foods and medications, as well as the latest research on nutritional supplements.”
“We are so grateful that Deb will bring her expertise to the meeting,” said Connie Rathbun, facilitator. “The group wants to learn more about foods that may be appropriate for Parkinson’s, as well as those that may cause adverse side effects with certain medications.
“Attending our meetings is a great way to get ideas from other people, including patients and caregivers,” Rathbun added. “For example, the group recently learned that the Veterans’ Administration might be helpful in some cases.”
For more information, contact Rathbun by calling 520-510-7831. She also mentioned that Aware in Care kits are still available for Parkinson’s patients.
