Ellinwood woman killed in Thomas County accident

An Ellinwood woman died Sunday after the car she was riding in went off K-25 at 3:24 p.m., 6 miles north of Interstate 70 in Thomas County.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports Marvin L. Dewey, 60, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was driving south in a Honda Civic and fell asleep. The car drifted into the east ditch, where it hit a field access road. It rolled an unknown number of times coming to rest on its wheels. Dewey was not injured. Betty J. Dewey, 89, of Ellinwood, was taken to Citizens Medical Center and died as a result of her injuries.
Everyone in the car was wearing seat belts. Passenger Rachel C. Dewey, 23, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was taken to Citizen Medical Center a by Emergency Medical Service and later flown to Denver Swedish Hospital.
