A 2-year-old boy died Monday and others were injured in a one-vehicle accident in Pratt County. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 10:18 a.m.. on K-61, 1.5 miles north of Preston.
A GMC driven by Ginny L. Coates, 27, Turon, went off the shoulder. The driver over-corrected, entered the roadway and made an evasive maneuver. The GMC rolled three times. She was taken to Pratt Family Medical Center, where she was later released.
Craigjohn E. Vanzandt died at the scene.
All of the passengers were children from Turon. No one was wearing a safety restraint. A 5-year-old girl was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, while a 6-year-old girl was taken to Pratt Family Medical Center. Both were later released.
