Kansas Legal Services is offering the free online tax filing program called I-CAN! E-File for low- to moderate-income Kansans. It can be found online at kansaslegalservices.org.

The program helps low income Kansans take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit and avoid tax preparation costs and high cost Rapid Anticipation Loans. The I-CAN! E-File program is convenient and easy to use. Individuals can use the system from any computer with Internet access, including public locations such as local libraries, or from home computers. The program asks simple "yes" or "no" questions, and was developed at a fifth grade literacy level to avoid confusion.

Residents can generally use I-CAN! E-File if they make $50,000 or less per year, unless they (or their spouse, if filing together) are in the military, are a church employee, are a non-resident alien, sold real estate or have a non-U.S. address.
