Great Bend Community Theatre announces that auditions for "Messiah On The Frigidaire," a dramatic comedy by John Culbertson, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, and at 7 p.m. Monday, March 5 at the Crest Theater.
Performance dates will be April 19-22.
According to K.B. Bell with GBCT, there are roles for three women in their mid 30s, two men in their mid 30s, two men in their 50s and one boy 9-12 years of age. The ages are somewhat flexible.
The play takes place in the small town of Elroy, S.C. The town is thrust into the evangelical spotlight when what seems to be the image of Jesus appears on a refrigerator in a trailer park. When the National Investigator turns the appearance into front-page headlines their trailer park becomes a mecca for miracle seekers, soul searchers and disciples with a decidedly political agenda. In a region where religion is as much a part of life as grits and cotton fields, God surely moves in mysterious ways.
No advance preparation is necessary for the audition session. To check out a reading copy of the script or for more information contact the director, Chris Curtright, at 620-282-3648, or send e-mail to gbct.crest@gmail.com.
