Senior Center to hold Thanksgiving potluck dinner

 

Join your friends at the Senior Center for turkey and dressing at the Potluck Dinner, Monday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. Call the Senior Center by noon Monday, if you are going to attend. There is a small fee for the turkey and dressing. Bring a covered dish and your own table service. There will be entertainment after dinner.

Stop N’ Learn: Holiday traditions from around the world

 

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free Stop ‘N Learn Session titled, "Holiday Traditions from Around the World," from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. This program will also be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.

Barton County is home to people of many cultures. Holiday traditions and celebrations are different around the world. Come and learn about German, Spanish and Asian cultures as they prepare for the holidays. Since food is the center of many holiday gatherings, participants will enjoy sampling some at the conclusion of the program. Donna Krug, FCS agent at Barton County Extension, with join members of Migrant Parents along with others for this fun and educational presentation.

 

Flu shots offered at Senior Center

 

Barton County Health Department will provide flu shots at the Great Bend Senior Center from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday. Seniors wanting a flue shot will need to bring their Medicare Card or Medicaid Card. For persons under age 65, regular fees will apply.

Friends Meals plans Thanksgiving lunch

 

Enjoy turkey and dressing and the trimmings with friends at the Friendship Meals Thanksgiving Dinner at noon Thursday at the Senior Center. Cost for the meal is a suggested contribution of $3 for people over 60 years of age. For people under 60 the meal is $5.

Call the Senior Center, 792-3906, by noon, Wednesday, to make a reservation for the Thanksgiving Dinner.

 

Dominicans to hold mission bazaar

 

The Dominican Sisters of Peace in Great Bend host their Annual Mission Benefit Bazaar from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, at 3600 Broadway in Great Bend. With coffee and rolls in the morning, soup and pie for lunch, hundreds of handcrafted and homemade items, the famous raffle, unique gift theme baskets, and a silent auction, there is something for everyone.
