A land auction for Habitat for Humanity of Barton County, scheduled for Tuesday evening, was rescheduled because of the unsafe weather conditions. Habitat co-chairman Rachel Mawhirter said the auction will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the board room of the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development, 1125 Williams. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

In 2009, the nonprofit organization received 30 acres of undeveloped land at the southeast corner of Great Bend. "A generous local business donated this land to our organization so that we could sell it and use the proceeds to help us with our next building project," Mawhirter said. "Since we plan to break ground on our next building project this spring, the funds from this sale will immediately be put to good use."
