The top three poker players in the recent Sunflower Diversified Services Texas Hold ‘Em tournament split the pot. Janette Handle of Hays had the most chips and won $400. Yvonne West of Great Bend and Leslie Heeke of Larned each won $275.
The winners in fourth through eighth places were: Devin Legleiter of Hays, $75; Wes Knox of Great Bend, $50; Roger Bunn of Great Bend, $40; Smokey Fairbank of Ransom, $30; and Steve Knopp of Russell, $25.
“Those who play in our poker tournaments have a good time, and more important, they directly benefit people with developmental delays and disabilities who seek Sunflower’s services,” said Connie Oetken, director of development. “All proceeds benefit Sunflower clients.”
Oetken also recognized the efforts of all volunteers and the Highland Hotel staff. The next tournament is set for Sept. 16 at the hotel.
Sunflower serves infants, toddlers and adults in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush and Stafford counties.
