A head-on collision occurred at 9:10 p.m. Thursday in Rice County, 2.1 miles east of Lyons on U.S. 56. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Luis Gonzales, 55, died after the 1997 Dodge passenger car he was driving crossed the center line, colliding with a 1998 Ford pickup driven by Jimmy M. Bound, 65, Lyons. Bound was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
A Wesley spokesman said Bound was in good condition Tuesday afternoon.
