Police are looking for the driver of a Chevrolet Lumina that hit an 11-year-old girl on a bicycle Tuesday afternoon at Broadway and Harrison streets. Her injuries were reportedly minor.
The accident occurred just before 3:20 p.m.. When police arrived they learned that a car traveling north on Harrison hit the eastbound bicyclist in the crosswalk. After stopping and pulling the bike from under the car, the driver left the scene. Lt. William Browne said the girl was treated at the scene by Great Bend Fire Department's Emergency Medical Service, and she left with her parents. Officers were unable to locate the car or driver.
“We’re looking for a late-90s Lumina, four-door, tan or light gold in color, driven by a Hispanic male,” Browne said.
The case is still under investigation and anyone who has information is asked to call the Great Bend Police Department, 793-4120, or Crime Stoppers, 792-1300
