Kevin M. King, 31, Great Bend, was flown from Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington to a Wichita hospital via Eagle Med air ambulance following a one-vehicle rollover around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on East K-4 and NE 80 Ave. in Barton County. A Via Christi Medical Center spokesman said he was in good condition late Tuesday morning.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. According to the preliminary report, King was driving east in a Dodge Ram 1500 and went left of center and off the roadway just before NE 80 Ave. He over-corrected and lost control of the truck, which started to roll as it came back onto the roadway. It rolled 3.5 times before coming to rest in the south ditch. King was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was transported to Clara Barton Hospital in critical condition.
Hoisington Police Department and Claflin Emergency Medical Service also responded.
