The jury trial for LaVeta D. Miller that was scheduled to start this month has been rescheduled for Aug. 18-22 in Barton County District Court. The trial had been scheduled for June 23-27, but the prosecution requested the new date because a witness was unavailable.
Miller is charged with stealing more than $100,000 that was intended to provide World War II veterans with free trips to Washington, D.C. She is the former director of Central Prairie RC&D, once based in Great Bend. She was in charge of Central Prairie Honor Flights, which raised nearly $1.2 million for veterans’ trips between 2008 and 2012.
