Michael W. Cavender, 61, Great Bend, was injured Monday afternoon when he laid down a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in road construction on U.S. 281.
According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Cavender was driving north in the construction area at mile post 110 at 2:43 p.m. The highway is getting an overlay and there was a ridge between the lanes. When the motorcycle crossed over the ridge into the right-hand lane, the back tire slid on the ridge, coming out from under the rider.
Cavender was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital by Hoisington Ambulance Service.
