A Claflin man escaped injury in a deer-pickup collision Wednesday morning, but an Ellsworth woman was injured when the deer went airborne and struck the car she was driving, six miles west of Claflin on K-4.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 7:44 a.m. Craig A. Beran, 51, was westbound in a Ford F-150 pickup when the deer came out of the south ditch. Natasha R. Bruning, 21, was in the eastbound PT Cruiser. She was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington with undetermined injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles were removed by tow trucks.
