The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free Stop ‘N Learn Session titled, "Seasoning With Spices And Herbs," from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. The program will also be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Sr. Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.
The presenter will be Donna Krug, FCS agent at the Barton County Extension, who writes, "Spices and herbs enhance the natural flavors of foods. These flavorings have been used for centuries and can be part of any meal. The use of herbs and spices can help cut fat, sugar and salt in your preparations and save money by adding flavor to simple and inexpensive foods. This lesson will discuss flavor and food combinations, substitutions, when and how much seasoning to use and how to store herbs and spices."
