The rural Russell man involved in a rollover accident on Tuesday was listed in critical condition, a spokesman for Via Christi Medical Center’s St. Francis Hospital said Wednesday.

Robert Yarmer, 52, was pinned inside his truck after it rolled in the 1300 block of NW 190 Road. According to a report from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Yarmer’s truck was pulling a fifth-wheel cattle trailer at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday when he attempted to avoid hitting a dog on the highway and applied his brakes. The truck began to skid and went into the north ditch, where it rolled onto its side, causing Yarmer to be trapped inside. He was extricated by Hoisington Fire Department and its Emergency Medical Service, and was flown by helicopter to St. Francis in Wichita.
