Rush County collision results in two fatalities, one injury

A double fatality accident occurred last Thursday in Rush County, when two trucks collided at and unmarked intersection on sanded roads, the Rush County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday. Dale Rausch and Bernard Gilner were pronounced dead at the scene. Daniel Stegman was transported to Hays Medical Center in Hays by Rush County Emergency Medical Service with undetermined injuries.

The RCSO accident log shows Daniel L. Stegman, 58, of Bison, was driving south in a GMC truck on County Road 320 at 11:20 a.m. Thursday. Dale R. Rausch, 63, of Greeley, was eastbound on Ave. G in a Chevrolet 2500 LS. Rausch’s truck was struck on the driver’s side door and rolled into the southeast ditch/field, coming to rest on its top. Bernard G. Gilner, 62, of Paola, was a passenger in the Rausch vehicle.
