A 43-year-old Russell man was injured after wrecking a motorcycle while fleeing police at 2 a.m. Saturday.

Jeffrey Carl Searles was taken to a hospital in Wichita. A Via Christi Health spokesman said he remained in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol online crash logs, Searles passed the Russell Police Department at a high rate of speed while driving a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A Russell Police Department officer gave pursuit. The motorcycle proceeded on Franklin and turned east onto First Street, struck sand and became airborne. It entered a parking lot and rolled.
