Stafford County wheat tour scheduled Thursday

ST. JOHN — The Annual Stafford County Extension Wheat Variety Plot Tour will begin at noon Thursday with a hamburger feed, sponsored by the Kanza Co-op, at the test plot location. From St. John, travel  2.5 miles south on U.S. 281 and then one-half mile west on U.S. 50.
Dr. Jim Shroyer, K-State Extension crop production specialist, will discuss the 28 wheat varieties planted Oct. 11, 2013. Erick DeWolf, KSU Extension plant pathologist, will discuss diseases affecting the wheat crop. Sarah Zukoff, K-State Extension entomologist, will discuss wheat and other crop insect issues.
