DARE Day Out welcome fun on a cold day

It was the kind of day that the “Cat in the Hat” liked to visit “Sally” and her brother. Cold and miserable, with nothing to do. But for many Great Bend kids, The DARE day out at the Great Bend Events Center provided a welcome outlet for pent-up energy for kids ages 3-12, with many inflatables and bounce houses for running, jumping and climbing on. The activity was free and open to children accompanied by their parents from 1-5 p.. Saturday.
“The idea was to provide a fun day for kids to get out of the house and have active, safe fun,” said Corp. Paul Millard of the Great Bend Police Dept. Millard oversees Great Bend’s DARE program. With sub-freezing temperatures and the windchill factor causing the ambient temperature to hover around 2 degrees Fahrenheit, the play day presented by the Great Bend Police Department and cosponsored by Nex-Tech and Waters True Value was the only game in town.
