Council talks insurance; commission picks KAC delegates

The Great Bend City Council will meet Monday night and the Barton County Commission will meet Tuesday morning, and both plan virtual meetings.

The Great Bend City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at City Hall, 1209 Williams. One can also view the meetings on Access TV via online at www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/. The meeting will be recorded. 

The agenda includes:

• A review of and action on the city’s health insurance plan.

• Dental insurance for city employees.

• A work session to discuss proposals to lease city vehicles.


County Commission

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the former JC Penney building, 1500 Kansas in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• Voice Products service maintenance agreement for the 911 Department.

• Selection of Kansas Association of Counties annual conference voting delegates.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 9:45 a.m. –  Great Bend Economic Development Inc. update with President Sara Arnberger.

• 10:30 a.m. – area chambers of commerce have been invited to update the commission.

• 10:45 a.m. – on-line access to documents with Glennda French, register of deeds. 

• 11:15 a.m. – update of high resolution imagery with Bj Wooding, cartographer.

• 11:30 a.m. – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator.  

• 1:30 p.m. – HVAC project overview with OSE and DMA Architects with commissioners and administrative staff.
