WEDNESDAY, November 8

• Great Bend USD 428 Vocal Music Showcase – 9 a.m. at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.


• Senior Day – 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Barton Community College. Barton will help area high school seniors plan for their futures and will feature campus tours, advising and admissions information, and housing and student life information; $6,000 in scholarships will be raffled. • Babies & Little Tykes Day Out – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Great Bend Auditorium. Families are invited to free family fun for children from birth to 3 years old. Find community resources and enjoy the Imagination Playground, learning activities, games and prizes. See alpacas from Heartland Farm.


• HireWorks Networking/Job Fair & Business Expo – Panel discussion & networking from 2-7 p.m. at the Great Bend Events Center; Job fair and business expo from 4-7 p.m.


• K-State Community Visit Open Forum – 5:30 p.m. at the Great Bend Events Center.


THURSDAY, November 9

• Great Bend Chamber Coffee – 9 a.m., with program at 9:30, at the chamber office, 1125 Williams St. Hosted by Meyers Enterprises.


• Hoisington Chamber Coffee – 9:30 a.m. hosted by Golden Belt Community Foundation at the chamber office.


• Book Club – 10:30 a.m. at the Hoisington Friendship Club.


• Instrumental Combined Concert – 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium at Barton Community College. This will be the second exchange concert featuring the Prairie Winds concert band with the Sterling College Band. Barton Jazz Ensemble will also perform.


FRIDAY, November 10

• Great Bend High School Veterans Day Assembly – 9:30 a.m. in the GBHS Gymnasium, 2027 Morton St. Veterans are invited to the program and to breakfast from 8:50-9:25 a.m. in the GBHS Commons.


• Veterans Day Program – 1 p.m. at the Golden Belt Memorial Park cemetery, 59 NW 50 Road, Great Bend. 


• Fridays Fall Story Hour – 4 p.m. at the Hoisington Public Library, 169 S. Walnut. Enjoy some books and crafts.


• GBHS Fall Play – 7 p.m. at the Great Bend High School Auditorium.

• Veterans Day


• VFW Poppy Sales  – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside Dillons, Walmart, Perkins, Walgreens and Bomgaars in Great Bend.


• Sunflower Diversified Turkey Trot 5K and 1 mile – 9:30 a.m. at Brit Spaugh Park. Co-sponsored by Clara Barton Medical Center.

• Great Bend Veterans Day Program – 11 a.m. at the Avenue of Flag on the east side of Veterans Memorial Park. DAV is in charge of the program.


• Larned annual Veterans Day Parade – 11 a.m., starting at Fourth and Broadway, Larned, with a brief honorary salute at the intersection of Fifth and Broadway.
