Quilting Bee meets

LARNED -- At the July 5 meeting of the guild, Ann Hicks reminded members of the Pawnee County Fair and that sewing and quilt entries are due on July 20 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. 
A July 16 workday is planned in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church.  Members tied quilts for the Pawnee County Humane Society raffle. The sport fat quarters were won by Sandra Dunavan. The next regular meeting will be on July 19 and copies of the current quilt blocks will be available.
Sometime in the future Karen Hadley will demonstrate a rag rug.  Ann Hicks demonstrated how to use vintage doilies on aprons, how to use spray powder for marking quilts and the July quilt blocks. Melvina Prescott won the challenge of four summer fat quarters to be made into a project by the August 16 meeting.
Show and Tell participants were Melvina Prescott, bridal garter; Susan Gray, patriotic table runner and fabric bowl; Lavada Kraft, two vintage quilts made by her mother; Ann Hicks, quilted apron, two quilted wallhangings and a tied quilt.

Health Fair scheduled Friday

LARNED — The Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Health Fair is scheduled from from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 8 at the First State Bank community room, 116 W. 6th Street. Please use the south entrance. 
The health fair offers lab testing at reduced rates with a total profile as low as $25.  Free blood pressure checks, booths and education will be available.
