HOISINGTON — The 2nd annual ATV Rodeo will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 on the south side of the railroad tracks in Hoisington. Admission is $5. Children under 12 are free.
"It’s good family entertainment," said Pat Horton, Hoisington Main Street Inc. volunteer. HMSI will run and benefit from the concessions, and Kans for Kids will benefit from the gate fees and any other proceeds.
The events include an obstacle course, barrel race, polls and capture the flag. The best combined times of all events wins.
"If you enjoy racing, you’ll enjoy the event, said Ryan Schneider, CKORA coordinator. Riding the rodeo takes strategy and planning, and the winner may not necessarily be the fastest ATV, he said.
"The event is challenging," said Schneider.
The classes are: child 13 and under with an age appropriate ATV, youth 14-18 open cc, 2wd 18 and over, 4wd 18 and over, 40 and over 2 or 4 wd, women’s 2 or 4 wd and UTV partners. UTV partners will switch drivers before the return from the polls and flag races.
There will be a new adult class for machines 150cc or less. The registration time for all classes is noon.
The entry fee is $10 for 13 and under, and $20 for all other classes. There will be a free T-shirt to all entries and an ice cream treat for all the participants in the children’s races.
Cash prizes will be awarded in the other categories.
