Banks doing battle

Barton County banks are ready to do battle against cancer. All they need is you.
The 2012 Battle of the banks will run the entire month of April. The banks participating will take donations for cutout paper moons, stars or feet for $1 each and post them in their businesses. Then at the end of April, Relay for Life of Barton County organizers will count to see what bank has the most donations and declare them the winner, said Kandi Wolf, relay team development chairperson.
“When someone is diagnosed with cancer, they battle their way through it for months and months if not years,” Wolf said. “We want to just take the month of April to honor those fighting this horrible illness, our survivors who have won their battle as well as remember the loved ones we have lost.”
Participating banks include: UMB - Hudson, Wilson State Bank - Hoisington, American State Bank - all locations in Barton County, Farmers Bank & Trust - all locations in Barton County, Sunflower Bank - all locations in Barton County, Landmark National Bank - all locations in Barton County, and First Kansas Bank - all locations in Barton County.
All proceeds will be donated to the Relay For Life of Barton County.
The 2012 Relay for life of Barton County relay will open at 6 p.m. Friday, June 8, and wrap up at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Jack Kilby Square in downtown Great Bend.
