HOISINGTON —The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is currently seeking applicants for its 2011 healthcare career scholarships.
Identified as an ongoing goal for the Foundation, each year the Foundation presents four individuals with a scholarship. Scholarship amount varies with the merits of the application and funds available from the endowments. The four scholarships to be awarded are: The Jonathan Witt Scholarship, The Sadie Stalcup Scholarship, The Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship and the Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship. Application deadline for all scholarships but the Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship is April 1.
The Jonathan Witt Scholarship has been continually awarded since the formation of the organization in the 1950’s. The scholarship was renamed in memory of Jonathan Witt, son of Dr. Dan and Sandy Witt. The Sadie Stalcup Scholarship was established in more recent years to honor Sadie Stalcup, a long time nurse at Clara Barton Hospital. Both scholarships are limited to applicants accepted into, currently enrolled in, or planning to pursue a health care professional curriculum. Applicants must be a current resident or a high school graduate in the Clara Barton service area.
The Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship was established at the request of her family to assist students in their academic pursuit to become an R.N. or L.P.N. The applicant must be admitted to a nursing program. The scholarship will not fund pre-nursing students. Applicant must have a current GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship established at the request of his family to assist employees of Clara Barton Hospital with their continuing education. Only current employees of the hospital are eligible for this scholarship. Clara Barton employees interested can call the Foundation office to learn more.
