CLAFLIN — Friday will be the 2010 Claflin Football Homecoming. This week the cheerleaders have been busy with preparations for the big event. On Sunday, Sept. 12 the cheerleaders sponsored a "White Wash" that allowed students to white wash paint a few of the streets in Claflin to help "kick off" the homecoming week. The cheerleaders are also sponsoring the school "spirit" week which, will allow the students to dress in the following chosen themes: Monday, "Come As You Are Day"; Tuesday, "If I Dress Like This Will You Still Be My Friend"; Wednesday, "Dress Like A Little Kid"; Thursday, "Black Out Day"; and Friday, "Dress Up Day."
On Homecoming Day, there is a parade scheduled to start at 2:35 p.m. with the band marching from the high school to the elementary school. A Pep Rally will be held in front of the Claflin Elementary at that time. The band will play, coaches will talk, prizes to the winners of the "Spirit Week" will be given out, and homecoming candidates will be recognized.
On Friday night, the homecoming king and queen will be crowned prior to the start of the football game at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Claflin Wildcats will be taking on the Little River Redskins at 7 p.m. Following the game, a homecoming dance, sponsored by the high school student council, will be held in the high school for Claflin High School students.
