HOISINGTON — Clara Barton Hospital Department–Outpatient Services has purchased two new infusion chairs thanks to generous donations from Clara Barton Hospital Foundation and Clara Barton Hospital Auxiliary. Memorial donations received by the Foundation in memory of beloved employee Megan Elizabeth Escalante, former and long-time nurse Velma Rose “Grammy” Graves and friend of the Foundation, Ed Billinger, provided the $1,425 needed to purchase one infusion chair. The hospital auxiliary funded the second infusion chair with proceeds from various fundraisers hosted through the year such as their B&N Jewelry, Books are Fun, memorial ornament sales, flower delivery proceeds and more.
“The new reclining chairs provide a comfortable environment for our patients receiving their prescribed infusions. Clara Barton Hospital’s ER-outpatient services strive to provide professional care in a convenient comfortable environment and these chairs are helping us to do this, states Paula Hofmesiter, ER director. The ER-Outpatient services provide a variety of infusions to meet the needs of our community members. ER services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and most on a walk-in basis,” explains Hofmeister. Services provided include: IV therapy, antibiotic therapy, anti-coagulant therapy, injections, neupogen, blood transfusions, PICC line insertions and maintenance, port-a-cath maintenance, hickman maintenance, pain pump management, IVIG, remicade, Procrit and Aranesp.
“The auxiliary has been a tremendous fundraising partner, and the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is very grateful to all the members who work diligently on behalf of the hospital throughout the course of the year,’’ said Michelle Moshier, foundation executive director.
“The purchase of two infusion chairs this year is a wonderful example of how more can be done when the foundation and auxiliary partner together,” said Moshier. Last year memorial donations to the foundation and auxiliary fundraising projects helped to fund several LCD television screens for patient rooms.
