Couple becomes engaged in trauma room at CBH

HOISINGTON — Not everyone gets engaged in a trauma room at the hospital. In fact, it is quite an unusual place for such an event to occur.
Yet, Tyler Reeves proposed to his girl friend Kayla Stout at Clara Barton Hospital in the Trauma I Room on Aug. 1 at Hoisington.
“We met at work,” explained Tyler. Reeves is an LPN and is studying to become an RN and Stout is a RN. The two both work at CBH.
Prior to the proposal, Tyler had friends, co-workers and family gather in Trauma I Room waiting for Kayla. They then called a code, which is an emergency.
“She came bursting in,” said Tyler, smiling at the memory.
Tyler had the ring ready, which he had picked out himself.
Kayla said yes with family and friends cheering on the couple.
Tyler admits he did test the waters beforehand to see if Kayla was inclined to say yes, which she was.
The couple hasn’t set a date for the wedding.
Tyler especially likes the fact that Kayla is very nice as well as a good person and a good hard working nurse. An added plus for him is that she is a good cook.
Extended families can also be important to the success of a marriage, and the situation is good with the Reeves. “My family loves her more than me,” Tyler said.
Kayla’s family likes Tyler too. She said, “My family loves him.”
It wasn’t a complete surprise to Kayla that Tyler proposed, but she was surprised it was in the Trauma room.
It was a no-brainer for Kayla to say yes. “We’ve been together for awhile,” said Kayla. “He treats me good and loves my kid.”
Tyler eventually wants to become an RN and complete his bachelor’s degree. He would like to become a flight nurse and work in the emergency room.
Kayla has family in the area and wants to continue at Clara Barton Hospital. She has been a nurse for four years.
