BUSHTON —The Central Plains Middle School in Bushton Renaissance Council was selected during the first week of school. The Renaissance program emphasis academics and positive interactions.

Interested council candidates had to prepare a short speech for their classmates stating why they wanted to serve on the council and how they plan to make a difference at CPMS this coming year. One council member was then selected by the class, and one council member was selected by the teachers. Serving on the CPMS Renaissance Council for the 2011-12 school year includes the following students: 6th graders Jacob McAtee, Zach Boner, Haleigh Martin, and Colton Potts, seventh graders Kylee Kasselman, Kylie Holmes, Maya Bailey, and Holli Payne, and eighth graders Lexie Broeker, David Trammell, Lloyd Spradling, and Cody Price.

The council had their first meeting on Sept. 7 and have already begun planning activities and incentives for the school year.

Council members also contributed valuable input on how to improve various school procedures and express appreciation for staff members. They look forward to seeing great things come from this group of leaders.
