ELLINWOOD —The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team qualified four new events for the state championships tournament with their stellar performances at competitions held at Central Plains and Lyons High School last week.
New qualifiers at the Central Plains tournament included Rachel Schlotermeier, placing 2nd in Original Oration, Shiani Hughes, placing 2nd in Serious Solo Acting, and Hannah Billinger/Tamika Arndt, placing 2nd in Duet Acting.
At Lyons High School, Tamika Arndt qualified her Serious Solo Acting for the state championships with a second place finish.
Also at Central Plains, Schloctermeier placed 1st in Informative Speaking, Billinger placed 2nd in Prose Interpretation and Michaela Hughes placed 7th in Humorous Solo Acting.
In Lyons, Billinger and Arndt placed 1st in Duet Acting at Lyons, and Billinger placed 2nd in Prose Interpretation. Schloctermeier placed 2nd in Original Oration and 5th in Informative Speaking. Cassie Dimitt and Jacob Kasselman also competed.
