Ellinwood High School Future Business Leaders of America competed at the state FBLA conference March 29-30 at the Capital Plaza Convention Center in Topeka.  FBLA members were competing against 6A schools in the finals, scoring enough points to be victorious in five areas.
Those students qualifying to attend the prestigious national competition are Kayla Schartz, Rachel Morales, Sarah Fox, Kyle Blakeslee, Stephanie Troyer and Rachel Doll.  Ellinwood will be sending as many students to the national conference as many of the 5A and 6A schools across Kansas.  Schartz competed against 364 students to receive 1st place in Business Communications and Morales edged out over 100 students to place 1st in Spreadsheet Design.  Prepared to compete at Nationals will be  Blakeslee and Doll along with their team partner Schartz with the Partnership with Business Project. Troyer, Schartz and  Fox will represent Ellinwood with the second place Desktop Publishing event.  Placing fifth and representing the Community Service project were Sam Kline-Martin and Emmi Clifton.  Placing seventh in Public Speaking was Jenna Collins.
“Each student represented Ellinwood as young business professionals, it is always an honor to work with these wonderful young adults,” said Lorie Betts, FBLA advisor.
Preparations are being made to raise the funds necessary to attend the national competition in San Antonio at the end of June.  FBLA members attending the state conference, front row from the left.
