Fireworks can be set off Sept. 29

HOISINGTON — The city of Hoisington will allow personal fireworks to be set off from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 29, the city council approved on Monday.
All of the city ordinances in regards to fireworks apply.
The council covered many topics at the short meeting.
City Manager Jonathan Mitchell said a letter of transfer will go to Subway on Oct. 1. Subway is expecting an investment of $270,000 on this building. The company has asked that the restaurant be made a Community Improvement District beginning April 1.
In other business, the council heard:
• The city is still looking for an EMS director.
•Sawvel will give an update Oct. 16 to the utility task force with final findings reported at the November meeting.
•A pre-construction meeting will be held on the Safe Routes to School project next week.
•$500 will be given to Hoisington Main Street Inc. for Ladies Night Out advertising.
