HHS forensics team members qualify for state

HOISINGTON The Hoisington High School forensics team finished their regular season by qualifying more students for State competition in Wichita on May 3. At Pretty Prairie, Ashley Lockwood placed first in oration, qualifying another event for the State Championship. She also placed fourth in poetry. Terance Crosling placed first in serious solo acting, qualifying for the State Championship. Terance Croslin and Robbie Willesden also placed fifth in duet acting. Nick Doerschlag placed second in informative speaking, qualifying for the State Championship. He also placed third in extemporaneous speaking. Tanner Blackwell placed sixth in serious solo acting. The team placed fourth out of ten schools. In earlier action, the team brought home nine gold medals from Regionals at Ellinwood. Logan McHenry received a I rating in prose. Emma Harmon received a I rating in oration. Micaila Curtis and Shae Bitter received a I rating in duet acting. Terance Croslin received a I rating in serious solo acting. Brandy Bodine and Logan McHenry received a I rating in improvised duet acting. Ashley Lockwood and Micaila Curtis received a I rating in improvised duet acting. All who received Is qualified for State Festival. Kylie Crawford, Brody Nicholas, Austin McHenry, Sydney Boxberger, Kenzie Wolf, and Jadyn Spears received II ratings. In earlier action at the Central Kansas League tournament in Kingman, Ashley Lockwood placed fifth in prose. Austin McHenry and Corbin Crawford placed sixth in improvised duet acting. The team has twelve students qualified for State. Ashley Lockwood has qualified in five events. Logan McHenry and Micaila Curtis have each qualified in two events. Jordin Greer, Nick Doerschlag, Terance Croslin, Kenzie Wolf, Corbin Crawford, Kate Schmitt, Emma Harmon, Shae Bitter, and Brandy Bodine have each qualified in one event. At the State Championship, Ashley Lockwood and Jordin Greer will be competing in serious duet acting. Ashley will also be competing in oration. Corbin Crawford will be competing in extemporaneous speaking. Terance Croslin will be competing in serious solo acting. Nick Doerschlag will be competing in informative speaking. Kate Schmitt will be competing in prose. Logan McHenry and Kenzie Wolf will be competing in improvised duet acting.
