HOISINGTON — Hoisington High School Cardinal novice (first year) debaters did well recently at TMP-Marian in Hays.  Brandy Bodine tied for first in the Best Speaker contest, receiving a medal. Robbie Willesden and Shae Bitter placed 6th, receiving medals, with a 3-2 record and 25 speaker points.  They defeated teams from Colby, Ellinwood, and Hays.  They lost to teams from Garden City and Hays.
Jenny Fercking and Brandy Bodine placed 8th with a 3-2 record and 26 speaker points.  They defeated teams from Colby, Larned, and Garden City.  They lost to teams from Garden City and Hays.
In earlier action at Dodge City, Erica Schwager and Shannon Manka went 2-3 in the open division, defeating two Garden City teams.  They lost to teams from Great Bend, Scott City, and Garden City.  In the novice division, Brandy Bodine and Megan Haynie also went 2-3, defeating teams from Liberal and Garden City.  They lost to three other Garden City teams.
In earlier action at the HHS novice tournament, Robbie Willesden and Jenny Fercking earned a 2-1 record.  Megan Haynie and Brandy Bodine went 1-1.  Zach Sanders and Ethan Woodcock went 0-1.
Remaining action for the Cardinals includes tournaments at Kingman, Larned, and Pratt.
