Music students compete in scholarship auditions

BARTON COUNTY — On March 2, 31 middle school and high school music students participated in the Parnassus Club annual piano and voice scholarship auditions held in the Barton Community College Fine Arts building.
The auditions are open to any middle school or high school student studying piano or voice in Barton County.
The senior piano scholarship awards include: first place, Hannah Wilborn; second place, Kaylyn Oberle; honorable mention, Taylor Fry and Melanie Maneth. The senior voice scholarships awards include: first place, Estella Schumacher; second place, Rachel Herter; honorable mentions: Bonnie Boultinghouse, Stephanie Troyer and Melanie Maneth. Junior Piano Awards went to: first place, Baleigh Fry;  second place, Lauren Miller; and honorable mentions, Hannah Beran, Emily Woodcock and BrayLynn Anschutz. Junior Voice Awards went to: first place, Katherine Snapp; second place, Allison Muth; and honorable mention, Ashlyn Prescott.
Teachers entering students include Betty Erikson, Glenna Gaunt, Darlene Boley, Lorrie Stickney, Debbie Lebbin, and Karole Erikson.
Amanda Asher Pfenninger judged both voice and piano students for the auditions.
Winners in each division will perform in the April meeting of the Parnassus Club.
