ELLINWOOD — There are new books at the Ellinwood School/Community Library. They are:
“Margot” by Jillian Cantor. This “what if” creates the story of Margot Frank, Anne Frank’s older sister, and the question of what would have happened if she had survived the Bergen Bergen Nazi concentration camp. It’s 1959, and Anne Frank’s diary has become a worldwide phenomenon. But now Margot’s secretly constructed new life in America is colliding with her past, and she is forced to come to terms with the people she loves.
“Just What Kind of Mother Are You?” by Paula Daly. During an incredibly hectic week in Lisa Kallisto’s overburdened life, she takes her eye off the ball for just a moment, and her whole world descends into a nightmare. Her best friend’s daughter goes missing and it is all Lisa’s fault. Lisa is determined to right her wrong, but as she begins her own investigation, she learns that everything is not quite what it first appears to be.
“Brewster” by Mark Slouka. In Brewster, New York, in 1968, two unlikely young men form a friendship. One is a talented track star wracked by the guilt of his brother’s death. The other is a boxer, trying to take care of his baby brother while staying out of the way of his abusive father. With a new friend, headstrong Karen Dorsey, the three friends dream of breaking away and finding freedom from the harshness of their lives.
“The Final Cut” by Catherine Coulter. Scotland Yard’s Chief Inspector Nicholas Drummond boards comes to New York when his colleague is found murdered while minding the crown jewels in the Jewel of the Lion exhibit, and the infamous Koh-i-Noor diamond is stolen from the Queen Mother’s crown. Soon the chase is on to find the cunning international thief known as the Fox.
“The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek” by Jane Myers Perrine. The ladies of Butternut Creek Christian Church known as the Widows have always taken pride in their infallible matchmaking. They’ve succeeded again, and having found the perfect wife for Pastor Adam, they’re ready to start planning the wedding. The one problem is that Adam has yet to propose. Clearly he needs their help. And so does Adam’s sister. And so does the high school basketball coach.
“Watch Your Back” by Karen Rose. When Baltimore Homicide Detective Stevie Mazzetti learns that her ex-partner might have miscarried justice, she’s determined to put the past to right, even when she becomes a target. And former Marine Clay Maynard is determined to protect Stevie, the woman he has come to love, from a vicious psychopath.
