Red ribbon week at EGS

ELLINWOOD —Ellinwood Grade School has just completed another very successful and fun week in observance of Red Ribbon Week. Guidance lessons over the past month have focused on drug and alcohol prevention. Besides learning the importance of being drug free, students had a good time with the theme days and winning prizes with their "Live Drug Free" wristbands last week. Monday was "Wear Red Day"; Tuesday, "Turn Your Back on Drugs Day" with students wearing their shirts backwards; Wednesday, "Our School Rocks Drug Free" day, with students dressing like a rock star or favorite musician; and Thursday was Life is Sweet Drug Free so Give Drugs the Boot Day, with students wearing boots and receiving a sweet treat.

We would like to thank all of the students and faculty who participated in the theme days and also congratulate all of the winners.

Throughout the week, over 100 prizes were given away. There was even a return visit from a member of the rock band KISS. Ask your student to tell you the "Phrase that Pays". All students who won a prize were able to recite "Be Cool, Be Drug Free!"

Thank you all again for your support and assistance in making the week such a great success.
