HOLYROOD — USD 112 Central Plains Superintendent Jim Runge will retire effective June 30, 2014.
He began his duties in July 2013. Runge said he had originally planned to stay longer but due to some personal issues that have come up, he will be leaving next summer.
Runge also said that he has a good relationship with the school board and that he regrets having to leave. “It’s a great district,” the superintendent said. “I’m not at all unhappy with the district.”
He said the district will soon start looking for a new superintendent.
The USD 112 Board of Education accepted his resignation on Monday.
Runge plans to remain in the area for a few months after retirement, but then relocate closer to family in Lubbock, Texas or Arkansas.
