The Barton Community College Dance team took home the first place trophy in the Region VI dance and cheer competition Sunday in Hutchinson.
Barton bested four other community colleges to win the competition. The dance team will also compete at the National Dance Association’s National Dance Championship in April in Daytona Beach, Fla., in April. This competition is the largest dance championship in the world and Barton will compete against other community colleges and small four-year universities.
To help them prepare for nationals, the dance team will perform their nationals routine at halftime of the Barton men’s basketball game Wednesday night.  Barton will take on Garden City Community College. The women’s game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game following at 7:30 p.m. The dance team will have a drawing for prizes to help raise funds for their trip to nationals, and tickets for the drawing will be sold at the game.
